The STONE wines are grown at our vineyard within the renowned Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District. This inland sub-region is formed on deep beds of pure gravel and silt beside the Ngaruroro River. The rocky soils, which retain and radiate heat from the sun, ripens the classic red varieties well to produce mid-full bodied, richly flavoured, precise and well-structured wines with beautifully pure fruit characteristics. This is a one-off limited release of Cabernet Franc from an exceptional vintage.

Offering gorgeous fruit purity with elegant complexity, the wine shows black doris plum, blueberry, thyme and toasted almond characters with a lovely floral overtone. The palate delivers excellent weight and a silky flow, well complemented by plush texture and beautifully melded tannins.

2019 Stone Merlot is made with 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc from Gimblett Gravels (STONE) and Bridge Pa Triangle (EARTH) vineyards. The ferments were gently hand plunged and pumped over then aged in French oak for 22 months (38% new) and 8 months blended in stainless steel tank.
